I've never noticed that before - probably if I only switch briefly.

SonoBionda In single-player mode, switching to another window causes the game to lose focus and pause, as is typical for most single-player games.

At present, the only workaround is to run a localised server.

I don't understand; you can simply switch windows and bring a different program to the foreground (while the program in the other window continues running).
